Our Mission, Building Haiti's Future from the Diaspora
For nearly two decades, HANBF has united Haitian-Americans in a shared mission: to leverage diaspora talent, capital, and influence to rebuild Haiti's economy, infrastructure, and global standing.
Our Mission Statement
The Haitian American Network and Business Foundation (HANBF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2006 and officially recognized in 2025 as the Global Haitian Diaspora Organization by MAHVE (Mouvement des Amis d'Haïti par des Voies de l'Éducation).
Our mission is to connect, organize, and empower the Haitian diaspora to invest in Haiti's sustainable economic development, through business networking, financial services, broadcasting, real estate, agriculture, and renewable energy infrastructure.
We operate at the intersection of profit and purpose, believing that economic development and social responsibility are not competing forces, they are one and the same mission.
Six Pillars of Our Mission
Everything HANBF does flows from six core pillars that guide our programs, investments, and community engagement.
Diaspora Connection
Building bridges between Haitian-Americans in the US and Haiti, creating networks of mutual support, investment, and cultural pride.
Economic Development
Channeling diaspora capital into Haiti's most critical sectors: agriculture, energy, real estate, infrastructure, and financial services.
Sustainability
Developing Haiti's natural resources, rare earth minerals, wind and solar energy, agriculture, using sustainable, community-first standards.
Broadcasting & Media
EWNS-SMRI (Saint-Marc Radio International) amplifies Haiti's voice globally, connecting the diaspora through information, culture, and investment programming.
Education & Advocacy
Promoting Haitian history, culture, and governance through events, publications, and policy engagement with US and Haitian government bodies.
Governance & Transparency
Operating under an 11-member Great Governing Council and 7-member Internal Review Board, with full compliance with US State Department protocols.
Our Story
HANBF was founded in 2006 by Vladimir Leon, MSSM, born in Saint-Marc, Haiti, the same city that gave the world Jean-Baptiste Point Du Sable, builder of Chicago. From its founding, HANBF has operated as a bridge between two nations and two cultures.
In 2009, HANBF established its relationship with MAHVE, the global Haitian diaspora network. In 2025, HANBF was officially recognized as the Global Haitian Diaspora Organization, a designation that positions HANBF at the center of Haiti's diaspora policy globally.
HANBF's work spans community events, sustainability summits, investor forums, broadcasting, and now financial services, all united by one tagline: "Make a Profit. Make a Difference!"
